Membership and Pricing

Membership and Pricing

Theology Groups is currently free. Paid membership is planned for the future, but pricing and timing have not yet been finalized.

Why paid membership?

The goal is not to make theological discussion exclusive. The goal is to sustain a focused, ad-free platform and encourage more intentional participation.

A sustainable membership model can help Theology Groups remain focused on theological community without relying on advertising or an engagement-driven content model. Membership revenue can help cover platform costs, moderation, development, support, and eventually the creation of a more capable Theology Groups platform and mobile experience.

A paid model may also add some friction against spam, trolling, bot activity, and disposable accounts. It cannot eliminate those problems, but it can make low-investment disruptive participation less attractive.

Current platform and future development

Theology Groups currently operates on Ning while the community and platform are being developed.

Ning provides a practical way to launch Theology Groups, learn how the community works in practice, and better understand which features and tools matter most.

Over time, the goal is to move toward a platform built more specifically for Theology Groups and its communities, with greater flexibility and the potential for a stronger mobile experience.

Pricing and timing

The transition to paid membership may occur while Theology Groups is still operating on Ning or alongside a future platform transition.

Pricing and the date paid membership will begin have not yet been finalized. Members will be told clearly before paid access begins, and no one will be automatically enrolled in or charged for a paid subscription simply because they joined during the free period.

Early members

Early members will have an important role in helping Theology Groups develop. During the early stages of the platform, feedback about features, usability, wording, policies, and the overall member experience will be especially valuable.

As Theology Groups grows, it may become more difficult to maintain the same level of direct communication, but the goal during the beginning stages is to keep communication open and learn from the people who are helping the community take shape.

Early members may also receive special pricing or other benefits when paid membership is introduced, although those details have not yet been finalized.
